Born in August 1984 in the city of Pryluky, Chernihiv region, Ukraine.
He graduated from National University Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic with a degree in accounting. He has been drawing since childhood and has been actively devoted to visual art since 2010.
He did not receive formal academic training in fine arts, choosing instead to learn directly from nature and devote himself to plein air painting.
In 2015, Yurii Shapoval’s painting “Hryhorovych — Against” was featured on a postage stamp issued by representatives of the Ukrainian Association of New Zealand to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko. His work “Girl with a Bird” decorates the headquarters of Baykar in Turkey.
Yurii’s remarkably bright and sincere works are created in the Impressionist style. They are free from pretension and overly complicated subjects. Instead, they are filled with sunlight, the scent of wind, and wildflowers.
He has participated in national and international projects, exhibitions, and plein air events. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
His works are held in museums and private collections in Ukraine, Slovakia, Germany, Poland, Italy, France, Canada, the United States, and other countries.
