Nikolay Sologubov was born in 1969 in Kyiv, Ukraine, into a family of artists. He studied sculpture at the Shevchenko Republican Art School in Kyiv. Following his formal studies, he continued his artistic development through independent study of philosophy, art history, and visual arts, while also receiving guidance from his father and other artists.

Sologub works in painting and sculpture. His practice draws upon historical and cultural traditions, combining elements of painting, graphic art, and three-dimensional forms. His works often reference archetypal imagery, mythology, and ancient cultures through a contemporary visual language.

Since the late 1980s, he has exhibited in Kyiv and internationally. In 1990, he founded the International Club of Artists Friends.

His works are held in the collections of the Kyiv National Museum of Russian Art, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Kavaleridze Museum-Workshop, the Berdychiv Historical Museum, and in private collections in Ukraine, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, the United States, Japan, Australia, and other countries.
