Bernard Simbari
✦ Held in Private Collections Worldwide
✦ Produced More Than 375 Works Following a Stroke
Bernard Jacob Simbari (1941–2026) was an American self-taught artist whose artistic career began after a life-changing stroke in 2007. Through art and music therapy, he discovered an unexpected ability to draw with his non-dominant hand and went on to create more than 375 vibrant colored-pen artworks.
His work ranged from abstract compositions to landscapes inspired by the American Southwest, particularly New Mexico and Utah, as well as still lifes and reinterpretations of historical masterworks. Known for intricate detail and bold, expressive color, Simbari viewed art as both a form of recovery and creative exploration.
Before becoming an artist, Simbari practiced dermatology in Utah for more than three decades. Following his stroke, artistic expression became a central part of his life, leading to exhibitions and public recognition for his achievements in recovery through art.
His works are held in private collections throughout the United States and internationally.
