Born in 1957 in the village of Savyntsi, Myrhorod District, Poltava Region, Ukraine. Graduated from the Kharkiv State Art School in 1976, where he studied under V. I. Lenchyn, H. S. Korobov, and V. Yu. Yelin.

Worked as a restoration artist at the Khan’s Palace in Bakhchysarai (1981–1982). From 2004 to 2005, taught at the Poltava Studio of Fine Arts.

Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1989.

Lavrenko is known for his glazing technique, which gives his paintings depth and luminous transparency. His palette is often dominated by warm golden-ochre tones, creating a strong sense of light and atmosphere. His style combines realistic motifs with a poetic, lyrical sensibility.

In 2010, he received the Grand Prix at the international autumn salon “Golden Zuza” in Rivne, Ukraine.

His works are held in museum collections in Ukraine (Poltava, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi) and in private collections internationally, including the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden.

Participated in numerous national and international exhibitions.
