Born in Uman, Cherkasy region, Ukraine.
Education: 1945-1949 – Simferopol State Art College
Stepan was a prominent Ukrainian easel painter. Many of his works belong to the genre and historical painting; also, he created distinguished portraits, still lives, and landscapes. Stepan is well-known as a master of thematic scenes in a realistic manner. Since 1955 he participated in art exhibitions all around the former Soviet Union and widely exhibited his works abroad during the last decade of his life. Nowadays, they are present in the biggest art museum of Ukraine and Russia and in the private collections in Japan, Germany, Great Britain, and Italy.
